Face Painting
I am often asked, “Why faces?” The artist Mary Frank once said, “The face is endless.” It is where human form meets human condition— where inner truth is revealed. The artist infuses emotion into a face, and the viewer projects their own emotion onto the image. The work, therefore, changes with each viewing. I find that fascinating.
As students work, the face slowly comes into focus with each layer of paint. I explore color, texture, and composition with each student while allowing their own indivivual style to emerge.

Knitting for Beginners
I was trained as a knitting instructor at the Waldorf School of Garden City where I taught Handwork (knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch) to students in first through fifth grade from 2004 until 2007.
I am available for young adult and adult programs geared towards the beginning knitter. Workshops would consist of a minimum of four sessions: (1) slip knots/casting on, (2) the knit stitch, (3) review of the knit stitch, (4) casting off. Finger knitting workshops are also available for younger children.
Recent workshop: Summer/Fall 2009 — Taught members of The Garden City Community Church how to knit so that they could create hats and scarves for their local homeless shelter. They delivered over 50 items to the Mary Brennan INN in December of 2009.
